So much going on this year that Mick (and Vik) missed the opportunity to get outback. Born of that frustration was a snappy and totally unplanned trip to the Big Desert mid year. I'd just had the knee cleaned out and needed the solitude of the desert.

This offering is totally filmed on the Samsung phone, something I'd never contemplated before. Hope it gives the feel of a truly amazing area and one I plan to explore a lot more of in years to come.

This area is totally under reported. It is truly amazing and for somethiong so few hours drive from the major metropolis's of Melbourne and Adelaide, an area that eclipses some of our countries most iconic desert drives in the immensity of the dunes, the fluidity of the sands and it's isolation and remoteness. Totally underrated in my opinion.

Thanks Mick for the showcase, great work as usual.

The Samsuing did a great job film quailty wise, but a lot of that of course is the 'nut behind the wheel' who is driving it.

Amazing to me how close to Melb it is some, 550kms google tells me. I thought it would be more utilised seeing how many Vic 4wders there are.

Good video, Mick. That country looks similar to Pinkawillinie (“Pink Willy”) Conservation Park, west of Kimba SA. We had trouble on one dune there last year, enroute to WA deserts.

Cheers Bob. A heap of rain the week before and then a good shower some days earlier meant for heavy sand for me. Unfortunately it had been the Rainbow Desert Rally weekend so some Wallys took the Chinaman's Track back towards Murrayville in two wheel drives and really cut the dunes up. Youngsters no doubt by the amount of yahooing along the way. They'd made a real mess of the Murrayville Track for sure.

Beaut country and nice to see it so green although it's only ever fleeting out there.
