Has anyone traveled along this road in the past few weeks ?
Is it completely sealed from the Victoria Hw to Halls Creek ?
Would it be safe to tow a 21 ft semi offroad caravan the whole length of the Buntine ?
Is there any time saving, taking the Buntine as opposed to the Victoria Hw and Grt Northern Hw to Halls Creek.
Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

Did the section between Top Springs and Halls Creek less than three weeks ago. Certainly far from being all sealed. The first 30k or so S of TS is highway grade, then it goes to single lane sheet with a lot of "wear". New road construction is under way in a number of places. After Kalkarinji (*) it is all gravel to the Duncan junction, reasonable shape but not billiard table by any stretch of imagination.

After joining the Duncan it gets variable to worse, and of course there are the twisties east of HC before/after Old Halls that are annoying enough when not towing.Palm Springs is a nice distraction. The track into Sawpit Gorge is NOT van country, more a goat track.

Semi-off-road IMO would be OK with CARE. There ARE road trains down that way.

(*) Kalkarinji has 24-hour fuel via credit card terminal.

Thanks Zippo, It sounds like it is no quicker than sticking to the main highways, considering the condition of the Buntine. Cheers

Must admit I didn't compare those options as we were cutting across from Dunmarra on the Stuart to HC via Top Springs. But staying on the black stuff will take you past the Bungles entry, so if that has any attraction for you it would save backtracking from HC.

I agree with Zippo. We did it in July and it's safe, but certainly not quick!
