Trying to find latest info on fuel stops along this trek. Appears to be one at Ngukurr and Lorella Station and Boroloola but cant find anything about rest of trek. Would be grateful for any up to date info.

Scruffy,
can confirm fuel at both Ngukurr and Lorella in 2018. No fuel at Roper at that time.

Cape Crawford also has fuel but can sell out before the tanker arrives to fill him up. Generally only in busy times and usually only a day before it arrives. Good camp ground behind the store / hotel / servo. Only a couple of hours from Boroloola on excellent bitumen road. We stayed there a night before doing the short run up to Lorella. The fuel at Lorella is possibly the dearest in Oz - I didn't need to buy there but those who did were quite pale after filling up. I understand that Roper Bar is closed permanently.

Hi,

I was there last year, Lorella Springs is for emergency use only, they clearly state that they are not a service station and only have fuel so that people do not get stuck.

They apologise for the price but they have to drive to Cape Crawford to refill their own vehicles and the costs are added to the fuel they sell.

Roper Bar was permanently closed, old age had caught up with them, it had been on the market for awhile with no takers so they closed it.

Should get fuel at Ngukurr (check times), Borroloola, Hells Gate, Doomadgee and Burketown.

A few gerry cans might help if you are towing or like to take side tracks

Lorella Springs must have changed their fuel services. In 2016 they told me, with no mention of restrictions:

"Yes we do have fuel at Lorella, but we are $3 a litre. It is 275 KMS from Roper Bar, and 180 KMS from Borroloola – your closest options for fuel around our area. We are closed during the wet season."
