Caravan mover

Mate has a very similar one, probably badge engineered sold by Repco. Works OK, no good for slopes greater than 5 degrees.

I have one of the Giantz motorised jockey wheel movers similar to this one, it cost me $284.90 about 12 months ago.

Our van is a tandem axle and is around 2500kg. Where I need to use it is on a flat hotmix surface and I only need to back the van into the final parking area - no sharp turns but a gentle curve.

It does the job but it is really at its limits, any rise or loose surface would see it fail, in fact any similar device would be the same except maybe the Camper Trolley but this is way out of my price range.

To get this working I have needed to have a double jockey wheel clamp welded to the A frame plus a heavy duty 12V Anderson outlet installed - this is via a 40A circuit breaker.

Looking at the Optitec, it looks very similar to mine but costs about 8-9 time more .

What weight of caravan? Do you want to use it on a slope or on grass, or do you want to use it to go into a flat parking area such as a caravan park?

Do you want a simple jockey wheel type such as Optitec and a number of others, or would one that works directly on the wheels such as Purple Line e-go or Reich suit you better? These are more expensive but are more versatile with terrain.

I have been reseaching the same topic, and it certainly appears "you get what you pay for" when it comes to the cheaper ones. They are just not suited to the larger vans and you have to fork out reasonable cash to get something to move the 2800 to 3000Kgs vans

There’s is an Optitec for sale on the Kimberley Kampers forum.

I have owned the optitec for a number of years now and apart from losing the remote control have never had a problem with it. Our van weighs 2.5 tonnes and it moves the van up a tendered slop on concrete without any problem.
Can not recommend them highly enough And no I am not sponsored by them. For me they are a great van moves.
