Most likely going to become a lot more common if the government don't agree on a way to lower energy costs.

Not much sawdust around that stump with the scarf/backcut! I reckon that it's likely that someone has craned the trunks out on a truck for milling. Keep your eye on Gumtree for someone selling slabs.

And, there is very likely more than one offender; that 2nd stump in the photos has been spear cut. Highly unlikely that anyone who knows how to scarf & back cut would spear cut to fell a tree. In fact, if the top wasn't taken off the tree before it was spear cut, check the local emergency room for a patient covered in sawdust.

And what about the "grubs" bulldozing literally hundreds of Mulga trees on the Cobar to Nyngan road so they can install their new fence? Or the "grubs" clear felling many thousands of them near Charleville so they can run more cattle.
Why do we only get upset if it's a camp area? Why aren't more trees planted by councils? How many people who think what these "grubs" did are involved in tree planting?

Or the ‘Grubs’ that cut down all the trees at the Huggett’s Crossing campground, sorry it wasn’t Grubs ,it was the DELWP or whatever they call themselves this week.

The FARMERS at Charleville are LEGALLY allowed to clear mulga regrowth Gaz.

Bit of a difference between cutting down green trees to burn on your campfire and people trying to make a living.

How many trees were knocked down to build your house?

The shock and horror of a city dweller visiting the country.

I know they are legally allowed to do it, I am a woodworker, I am NOT against cutting down trees. I'm simply saying people should not get all righteous about illegal felling of a few trees but then do NOTHING about replacing legally felled thousands of trees.

BTW, those legally felled trees are simply rotting away, seedlings have not been planted, they simply hope new seeds will germinate.

Gaz X, Why don't you come out here around the Charleville area and call the Graziers grubs for doing this.
There is more than one reason why they push Mulga tress down.
Cheers

Gaz,

How about you educate yourself in the natural revegetation of Mulga.

Mulga now grows thicker and is more wide spread than when settlement commenced in these areas. It can smother the country and in big rain create more erosion than when it is thinned and used as stock feed. It is thinned to allow ground cover grasses and other shrubbery grow which old the soil together. It is left to rot so as to return nutrients into already low nutrient level soil.

I am sure if you attend the National Gathering at Kilcowera in a couple of months, they would be more than willing to show you and other people attending the gathering the wide variety of uses of Mulga in these semi arid places.

Cheers Kev
