Has anybody been north of White Cliffs towards Yancannia (ruins) and Salisbury Downs Station & Waynaaring Rd to Tibooburra recently? We'll be taking an offload camper thru there in latish May & looking for road conditions, etc.

We travelled the western half of that road (coming from Mutawintji, a worthy diversion)) in October 2016 in company with a Çruiser towing a 23ft caravan.
It was wide and smooth, but we did have to negotiate some pooled water.
All good roads for touring out there.
EDIT...Ooops... we went via Lonsdale, not the route you want, sorry, but I would have no fears personally, based on what we saw then......
Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter & Ann, I can't help with your inquiry, but I'm currently planning a trip out through that way myself; I'm not sure if you've read it, but on map 40 in the Hema Road & 4WD Atlas there is a note stating that "Tracks around Salisbury Downs are property tracks, and not suitable for through traffic".

Hopefully, someone on here can confirm/reject that?

I haven't set dates yet, but if I'm up there before you, I'll make a note on the forum if it's a goer, or not.

Have a great trip! :)

Thks, Kevin. I did see that but I'm assuming the purple marked tracks are public access roads & the comment really is for the numerous other tracks not marked on the map. Just to be safe both for road conditions & access, I thought we might call into Bootra Station and/or Salisbury Downs Station for an update and/or permission. Even so I guess we'll need to be watchful for navigation purposes.

Purple tracks on HEMA maps are simply those that they have GPS plots for. They may be public or private access.
Generally, all roads marked on HEMA maps are public access unless marked otherwise. And generally if they are not on the HEMA maps then they are likely to be either very minor or for private access (permission required) only.
At least that is my experience......... E&OE.

Cheers,
Peter

We did Tibooburra to White Cliffs two years ago and I dont remember one gate. Couple of grids but no gates even on the horse paddock.
