CSR

End of April doing desert trip.
Plenty/tatami/csr/gunbarrel/simpson
All good except diesel on CSR.
No joy trying to contact Capricorn via email or phone.
Does anyone know what’s happening with them or other sources of fuel?

Just go to Kunawarritji community, south of well 33.
Thousands of litres of diesel and a beaut shop to stock some supplies up on if needed.

.
Just be aware of the Opening Hours at Kunawarritji.

They are:
Mon-Fri: 8am to 5pm
Sat: 8am to midday
Sun: Closed

We arrived just after midday Saturday and because "The girl who can operate the EFTPOS has gone home" there was no service. However, the nice bloke said he could open up if we had cash, which we did.
It does pay to carry cash in remote areas for a number of reasons, not the least being the unreliability of communications and hence EFTPOS facilities. And don't even think of offering a cheque, even if you do still have such! lol

Cheers

Shop will open out of hours like most communities but will cost you $20. Also be aware that diesel is around $3;50 a litre

.
It did not cost us $20 opening fee Ivan, in fact the operator gave us a discount for cash. But he could not transact EFTPOS in any way.
Yes, the pump price for diesel was $3.50 per litre a year or so ago.

Cheers

Capricorn is one of the busiest roadhouses I have ever seen, strange you can't contact them. Massive place.

Nozzles.
Fuel drop is in 200lt drums.
There are rotary pump(s) to reach the bottom of the drum with a hose attached.
Or bring your own or a tanami pump.

It makes a lot more sense to take your own pump, as we did, rather than rely on somebody else.

Not called Capricorn anymore. Is that the problem with contact?
CSR Fuel
But unless it is absolutely impossible to carry enough fuel to get from Wiluna to Kunawarritji or vice versa then Kunawarritji is a way better option. Saves hassle of ordering fuel for date which may or may not be right and then there is always the issue of finding an empty drum.
Enjoy the trip. It is a great experience.

A recent post on the canning group stated fuel at Kunawarritji was $3.80 . Can anyone confirm this. It seems a big jump for April 2017 when it was $3.40.
