Has anyone got any plans for a basic sand spear

Check thread no. 67533, now archived, for some info. Doubt if the links will work now, but I googled "sand spears" and think you'll find plenty of info.

Dont know where you want to use it , i have seen them used on fraser with success.

But on my last trip to fraser 2015 there were notices that nat parks were banning their use...why i dont know....couldnt see a few spears changing the wayer table much...

In many popular beach camping areas, human poo has contaminated the water table to the point that showering or washing in ground water is dangerous to your health.

The Usual Suspects leaving poo and rubbish behind will eventually force local councils to ensure that all campers are self contained or confined to designated camping areas with facilities.

I do know that there are local authorities overseas that police the requirement.

Correct. Years worth of people crapping in the sand at Double Island and Fraser has lead to a number of cases of gastro/crypto diseases linked back to campers using sand spears.
