Hi all,
I know this continues various previous discussions on the topic of insurance - just wondering if anyone has recent CLAIMS experience with Club 4x4 Insurance?
Their pricing is competitive and I have found the staff to be friendly and efficient - so am on the verge of signing up for both ute and camper (and I like the additional benefit of having the two policies lined up, rather than with separate insurers).
My only remaining question is whether anyone has had real-world experience in lodging a claim, and how that went?........ especially in regard to remote area travel, which is what we do.
Any feedback appreciated.
Cheers

Furthermore : does the club need to be Incorporated . what happens if the insurance policy fails to pay and someone comes after Club members for compensation ?

Club 4x4 is not actually a "club". In insurance parlance it is an Authorised Representative of an insurer. Legally the insurer they act for is responsible for them. The insurer is Hollards - a South African insurer licensed to operate in Australia. There are no issues about their ability to pay or likelihood of being around when the ship hits the span so to speak. The original question about experiences of claimants is the right one though.

Check out which company underwrites it, they are the ones you will be dealing with

You don't deal with the underwriters, which in this case are Hollard.

Yes you are right but the underwriters are responsible for paying claims and if you sign up to some dodgy scheme and the underwriter go belly up you don't have any insurance
What i was trying to point out is check out who is behind the scheme because they are paying the bills
In this case they are a respected insurer but not always

I have my van insured thru them, just got my renewal notice and guess what a whopping 50% increase, no claims made in a year or ever, emailed em and they replied that it wasn't their fault its the underwriters and they use claims data to run the price. I am looking elsewhere.

Thanks for that - interesting point. I guess that is why a few of us change insurer from year to year. One of the reasons I'm looking around now is that my current van insurer premiums went up quite a bit this year even though agreed value went down and no claims have been made.
I think they all get you in at the intro rate and then hope you'll just cop the adjustments down the track!!

I recently made a claim for a windscreen, I asked for a genuine Toyota screen and seal and had no problems. Claim approved same day and was replaced by their repairer as soon as the screen and seal arrived at Toyota dealer.

Gooday,
We joined CMCA several years ago and have Caravan, Tow Vehicle as well as second car with them, well worth the effort and the annual fee as well as Joining Fee, (once only), they use Allianz, called Ken Tame but think that name is now part of Allianz but makes no difference, had a windscreen claim but that is all.

Have had a couple of claims with Allianz previous to going to CMC A and tops to deal with.
Premiums have been far better than alternatives.
Cheers,
Boroma604.
