Description

The proposed gathering at Borumda Deer Park at Imbil is for all ages and grades of 4wd. Mostly easy to medium tracks even for standard vehicles. So I hope to see plenty of families/individuals turn up for the Sat 20th May and Sunday 21st May weekend.
For those coming from the south of Caboolture we can meet at BP travel centre northbound on the Bruce Hwy at Caboolture at around 8am – 8.30am (leave from here at 8.30am). This should allow us plenty of time to cruise up the freeway to Imbil and arrive at the Borumba Deer Park (our overnight stay) just before lunch, if you would prefer to just meet at the Deer Park around 11 -12 noon that’s fine by me also. Others coming from further afield can meet at the Deer Park whenever you wish remembering we are hoping to go out for the afternoon drive. We can then set up camp and have lunch before we head out for an afternoon drive (low range may be required but we can work around this if you don’t have low range) through some of the forest trails around Imbil, as long as Pezza is not leading we should make it back for dinner and a few drinks around the much needed fire (should be cool nights). If there is enough interested in a night drive we could do this otherwise a relaxing night around the fire may be more to everyone’s appeal.
When booking your spot at Borumba Deer Park, mention this website so we get the same area of the park to camp in. I will mention to the Park owners we want to be on the "lower terrace" (the best camping area without power but powered sites available on request) but you could also remind them of this when you book, alternatively they do have self contained cabins for those not wanting to set up a camp for one night. Their ph. No. is 0754845196.
Whilst I am on the subject of phone no’s. You will need a QPWS permit to drive the forestry trails around Imbil and it may be worthwhile to get one for the Jimna section in case I find some side tracks during our Sunday drive. These are free permits and can be obtained by contacting QPWS Kenilworth on 07 5446 0925 they will explain the rest. Don’t leave this till the last minute as they will need to post you the info and permit.
Sunday’s drive is more of a dirt road tour (no low range planned but that can change if we see a side track or two) around the top of Lake Borumba, out to Yabba then southward to Jimna and back across to Kenilworth. Again if all goes well and according to plan we should be able to have lunch on this section of track before we get back to Kenilworth mid-afternoon, which should leave enough time for us all to get home safely by dark. This is just a rough idea but exact tracks and routes can be worked out according to vehicle types and personal interests of those attending, so if you have track routes or ideas that fit into this timeframe and area, put them forward and lets see what comes of it.
Hoping to see plenty there for what I hope to be a relaxing weekend.

Regards to all, Trevor.
