The Gwalia State Hotel was built in 1903 and the first in a range of 'State Hotels' constructed throughout Western Australia. The hotel is an impressive two-story brick building with 10ft. balcony wrapped around the Station and Kane Street façade.

The Gwalia State Hotel no longer operates as a functioning hotel and is privately owned by St Barbara Ltd and not accessible to the public.
